Morgan Shaw, PsyD.
Dr. Shaw has over a decade of experience treating survivors of interpersonal trauma. She currently works with adolescent and adult survivors of child maltreatment, child sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, family violence, and human trafficking. Dr. Shaw also has extensive experience conducting psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for the courts. In criminal court, Dr. Shaw has been hired to address a variety of issues related to mitigation including the neurobiology of trauma, impact of trauma on the individual, battered woman syndrome, and violence risk assessment. She has been both court appointed and retained to conduct specialized forensic evaluations including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and insanity. In the civil arena, Dr. Shaw has worked extensively on personal injury cases involving issues of sexual abuse and sexual assault within a number of institutions including religious organizations, school districts, universities, and state agencies. In juvenile court, Dr. Shaw regularly conducts psychological and neuropsychological evaluations on youth in both the delinquency and dependency systems. She is frequently retained because of her extensive background on the impact of trauma on both youth and families. In family court, Dr. Shaw conducts comprehensive child custody evaluations, as well as more specialized and focused assessments related to various issues of family violence.
Dr. Shaw has also spent the last five years regularly training individuals and organizations nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topic areas related to the impact of trauma. Dr. Shaw has trained attorneys, judges, law enforcement, military personnel, mental health professionals, educators, and advocates. She has conducted multi-day trainings to large audiences and creates individualized trainings tailored to the needs of the organization. Additionally, Dr. Shaw has worked to develop various training curricula, including a California statewide wellness curriculum for law enforcement, and has directed state and federal grants.
